This is not the same as your model, but it is very similar and most of the hardware should be the same: Notice it says "No special procedure required during installation" a LOT. For an Nvidia graphics chip and some other special chips there are external drivers but mostly they are compiled into the kernel so you don't have to download them separately. Choose a distro, download an install or a live cd and go. I would recommend using a live cd or pen drive if you don't know linux, until you do. It would help if we had more info like what happened when you tried to scan media or play songs, and how did you download and install amarok. Mint uses Synaptic as it package manager (software installer and remover). Hopefully this is what you used to download and install amarok. If you did not it may be missing critical parts. Also have you done a upgrade to the whole linux mint since you installed it? You may be missing some updated files. The first link is a good guide to using mint, and near the end of the article (Synaptic Package Manager) he explains how to use synaptic to install programs and the second link shows how to update the system.
