A. I actually use a product called DriverCure to update my drivers and it works like a charm - it ended up fixing several driver issues, my drivers are always up to date and I haven't had any computer problems to speak of. I believe it cost me $30 or so to register and I think the company is running a promotion right now when you go to register it you can get 4 other software programs for free. Anyway, here's the website for you to check it out:

I'm having device driver installation problems?
Q. I'm trying to insall a 2wire wireless USB router. When I first plug it in device manager displays the uninstalled router and "PCI Simple Communications" driver under the 'Other Devices'. When I install the router 'rundll32.exe' aburptly stops. The router is installed sucessfully but the PCI drive doesn't. When I connect to a network I get a windows stop error. What must I do to get this to work? I have restored my computer, i'm running windows vista, and my router has works before on the same computer and operating system. This is also the first thing I'm attempting to install on my newly resotored computer. This router is also my only way to connect to the Internet besides my iPod Touch, so I can't download any special software.

A. Go in the Device manager and go under AUDIO to see if their is an exclamation mark. If yes, then right-click and go to properties and update driver> When it asks you where to browse, you need to put your original CD in and point to the CD-Rom and the directory on the CD. It will locate and install the correct driver.

Device Driver Software Installation?
Q. OK so about a year and a half ago I bought a Sony Walkman, NWZS615 I think it is. I installed it and everything just fine, but recently when I try to connect it to the computer I'm getting a "Found New Hardware" notice and it says it can't identify the walkman. This is on windows vista btw. I've tried reinstalling, clicking on the "locate driver software" thing that comes up but nothing seems to be working. And what's worse is all the songs I had on the thing got deleted somehow so now I've got nothing. XD So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, other than buy a new one, to get this thing working again. And hopefully I explained the problem well enough that it's understandable O.o

A. I'll bet you used a store-bought XP disk. Back up all personal data from your PC ("Backup" means: copy to CD / DVD / external hard drive). Then, do a Windows "Clean Install", for further instructions, go to: Note: You must use the Recovery disks, if included with your PC, to avoid driver problems, not a store-bought XP. The Recovery disks may be ON the hard drive, so Read The Friendly Manual FIRST, if it's not already too late.

"Driver Software Installation: Unknown Device Installed" notification while streaming.Virus or Malware?
Q. I'm streaming a live hockey game from sportsnhl.blogspot.com The notification has popped up and is on the bottom right of the toolbar on my computer. How can I check to see what this is? Could it be bad? I will be running my norton and other virus scanners.

A. What antivirus do you have? i'd recommend you use one like AVG from or anything similar, preferably run it once in Safe Mode just to make sure. Try to install and scan with Spybot S&D or Malwarebytes Anti-malware to remove any malware pests. Both have an IP blocker option and real-time protection (free in Spybot, available only in the full version of Malwarebytes), which is good at preventing the problem before it happens. I for one use full MBAM (someone here answered another question recommending Malwarebytes coupon codes shared by other users on to save on the purchase) I prefer it since it has a scheduler to run scans and upgrades by itself. This should help to solve your problem and keep you protected in the future :)

A. try uninstalling ur ide then reboot ... if that doesnt fix it try a firmware update for the drive ... in some cases it can also be a symptom of a virus ... u shouldnt need a driver for an optical drive other than the default windows drivers.

I just bought a XP laptop and the audio driver is uninstalled?
Q. It looks like it is a Conexant HD Audio Venice 5045 Driver, but I've gone to the hp site and downloaded the XP Conexant Driver they have. When I try to install, it gives me this message: Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver. Any ideas as to what is going on here?
Asked by Chet - Mon May 11 13:12:53 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Most laptop companies have a utility that can identify it's products. If it is a HP product run that online utility and it should bring up all the specific drivers that are meant for that laptop. Also, sometimes the audio device may have been disabled in the bios... so check the bios to make sure that it wasn't accidentally disabled. Hope that helps!

A. What you two did was wrong on so many levels. Installing someone else's Vista Home Premium is blatant "Software Piracy", and you both knew that. RTFM. Read the Dell User Manual to learn how to BURN your Vista Basic Recovery Disk, if you haven't already deleted the Dell Recovery Partition. Assuming that's the case, you will have to BUY replacement Vista Basic Recovery Disks from Dell. Then, re-install Vista Basic. TIP: If you want to upgrade from Vista Basic, buy the Upgrade disks from Dell, for your specific Model number, they include all the required device drivers.

How do I stop Windows Vista from automatic finding a driver for a device such as a new device.?
Q. I have a Winfast PVR2000 PCI card that I try to plug it into my computer. Once I set the card inside the computer, I turn the computer and Windows automatic find the drivers for it. The problem is I don't want it to install a driver. In XP you get to chose whether or not to allow Windows to try to look up a driver and install it automatically. Is there a way to stop it from search and install. I tried: -Right Click the icon and no additional menu pop up to stop it. -Open the status of the installation, no other option beside "Hide" the window. Conclusion: Any idea where can change the settings of automatic search and install driver.

A. Once it is installed go to my computer, open the c drive and locate the program file, then find the uninstall drive file. You might also be able to get to it in the device manager located in the control panel. That doesnt really answer your question but this way you might be able to uninstall the driver you don't want.

A. Sometimes, but usually not. You can also try Windows Updates. Pick CUSTOM, then pick the Hardware section. But you might have to go to the manufacturer's website and look for that drive. If you have an HP, then start at hp.com The tough part is if you do not know the brand or model. Often, you have to open the PC and look at the sound card and/or markings on the sound chip. Then visit and search for the drivers for those components. Good luck and Happy Computing!
