Hardware is a general term for the physical artifacts of a technology. It may also mean the physical components of a computer system, in the form of computer hardware.

Hardware historically meant the metal parts and fittings that were used to make wooden products stronger, more functional, longer lasting and easier to fabricate or assemble.

Modern hardware stores typically sell equipment such as keys, locks, hinges, latches, corners, handles, wire, chains, plumbing supplies, tools, utensils, cutlery and machine parts, especially when they are made of metal.

In a more colloquial sense, hardware can refer to military equipment, such as tanks, aircraft, ships or munitions. In the case of vehicles, such may instead be referred to as armour.

In slang, the term can also refer to trophies and other physical representations of awards.

where can i find replacement hardware for a 20 year old jacuzzi tub?
Q. i'm not even certain if its jacuzzi. there aren't any markings to identify it. tub works great but all exterior hardware is corroded. The faucet is delta, i assume all hardware is as well since it all appears to be original. the hardware is brass i want to change to stainless. any help is greatly appreciated!

A. I assume this is a jetted bath tub rather than a hot tub? What you are going to find is primarily plastic jets. They can have chrome, brass, stainless faceplates, however. That might be all you need to purchase. Try a local plumbing supply store. Betcha they can fix you up.

What are some of the common causes of PS3 hardware failure particularly the Blue Ray player?
Q. The PS3 has a very low failure rate, however some of the systems do fail. What are some of the common problems or issues with PS3 hardware? Is there a problem with PS3 Blue Ray hardware? Some reviews I've read have mentioned it's common for the PS3 Blu Ray to fail. Is this true? What generally causes PS3 hardware to fail, defect or improper use? I would like to know if the PS3 has durability issues, before I purchase one. What really are the common hardware issues with the PS3?

A. Mostly because... Switched off inappropriately. Dust. Turning off the PS3 when installing data. Overheat. And some of them are just unlucky. Blu-Ray failure isn't the most common hardware failure but it does happen because it's overused, not enough time to rest and playing games that are dirty.

What kind of IT hardware and internet connection will I need to run a web service the size of Google or Ebay?
Q. I have an idea for a webservice/webcommunity that will, if all goes as plan, generate as much traffic and interest as something like google or ebay. My question is, what kind of server hardware/software (storage space) and internet connection will i need to support something like that? I'm guessing a T1 line for an internet connection but don't know a whole lot about that and the costs and the costs of hardware. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. If someone can give me a quick overdraft of the necessities I would be most greatful.

A. I believe you are grossly underestimating your requirements. Assuming you are hoping to eventually handle that kind of traffic, understand that Google, eBay, Amazon and the likes have literally thousands of servers in dozens of locations to handle this kind of traffic. They can store hundreds of terabytes of information, and process it in a fraction of a second. Now, you should build up to this kind of size at a reasonable pace. Start with a decent hosting service and see what kind of traffic you generate. You shouldn't be paying more than about $40/month to start. Most good hosting services will have multiple OC3 connections to the Internet, reasonably an order of magnitude faster than a T1. These days, a T1 is actually quite slow - I… [cont.]
