Pocket PC?
Q. Hi everyone, I need to buy a Pocket PC, but I don't know anything about PDAs. I only know that Palm is an organizer, and PPC is a computer, so if I want to install some dictionnary softwares, I have to use a PPC, not a Palm, is it correct? If someone knows about PDAs, please give me some suggestions! Thank you. Did somebody install dictionaries on Palm or PPC? I only want to ensure that I'll be able to install some dictionaries in my future PDA. Thank you very much!

A. It depends on the software you want to install. Any software you're planning on using should say which type of mobile device it's compatible with. Both PPC and Palm support dictionary software. I use Lexionary on my pocket PC. It was easy to install, and it's very handy when I'm reading eBooks. I know you can get similar products for Palm OS.

A. You could surf the internet for free, whenever your device is connected to your PC (obviously the PC must be connected to the Intenet) and Microsoft ActiveSync is active.

How do I make this router work with my pocket pc?
Q. I got a Telus SE567 wireless router the other day. I got the internet working on the main computer, however, I wanted to connect with my HTC/pocket pc. I successfully connected, however, this wifi internet still won't work on my htc. Does anyone know the proper connection settings? I had no problem connecting with my old router and shaw internet.
Asked by Jamz - Thu Jul 24 13:39:03 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You have to set up your wireless settings on your SE567 router before you can connect to it with your wireless device. You can access your router settings by going to and pressing the 'login' button in the top right corner. Log in with your username (admin) and the routers' default password (telus) You can then access your wireless settings and set up your wireless key. If you need assistance with this, you may want to contact your ISP for step by step instructions! Good luck!

Do Pocket PC applications work in Windows Mobile?
Q. I am planning to merge my PDA and my cellphone into a single unit, by purchasing a Windows Mobile smartphone. I use my PDA mostly to listen to music, read PDFs on the go and as a GPS with TomTom. "Pocket PC" is now called "Windows Mobile Classic" for touch screen devices without a phone built in (such as the iPAQ 111) and "Windows Mobile Professional" if its a touch screen with a phone. If its a Windows phone without a touchscreen its called "Windows Mobile Standard" - previously known as Windows Mobile Smartphone. Now - for compatibility - software created for Pocket PCs usally works on newer Windows Mobile touch screen devices "Professional/Standard". How to get Wireless Internet on Pocket PC?
Q. I've seen this question already, but no one really gave an answer I was looking for. My brother has this pocket pc that he never uses and let me have, and I was wondering what I have to do to get wireless internet on it. Like do I need some sort of card or what? I've heard people say hook it up to the computer, but I want to know how to get wireless internet. On the go. What type of hardware AND what type of software. It's an iPAQ, btw. Thankss.
Asked by amuffledscream - Thu Oct 16 22:19:34 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Does your iPaq model have WiFi and/or Bluetooth? If you have WiFi, you will need to find a hotspot to connect to the internet. Pocket IE should be more then adequate if you're doing light occasional browsing. Or (if you have a really good data plan with a mobile phone service), you can 'tether' your iPaq and phone together via Bluetooth. Basically the PDA will treat the phone as a modem and connect to the internet. This is if both devices have Bluetooth built-in. I believe you can find WiFi SD card adapter if your device doesn't have WiFi built-in.

A. If I understand correctly, your PPC has WM5.0 OS with Windows Media Player 10 preinstalled. Bad news are that WMP10 would only play standard WMVs and selected number of MPEGs (AVI and MPG file types) - it depends on codecs, DivX and XviD are not supported. I suggest you to use freeware TCPMP player which will play virtually everything:

How do you move or rip music files from a PC to the storage card on a pocket PC model 3135?
Q. I can rip the files to the "Pocket_PC My Documents" folder and the Sync but because my PC only has 16mb of memory I can only copy a couple of songs at a time. This is very tedious. I can't get windows media player 10.0 to rip directly to my storage card. Help.
Asked by SmallGarden - Thu Dec 7 00:06:20 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I'm not familiar with the 3135, but try this. If your pocketpc has a plugin SD or CF memory card, and your pc has a SD or CF (or both) slots, then you should be able to just rip the music to a folder on your pc, then copy the music to your SD or CF card when it is plugged into your pc. Plug the SD or CF card back into your PPC, and you should be good to go.

A. If your device has bluetooth or infrared then you can beam files. If you want to beam a program you will have to beam the .cab file
